by Nov 25, 2020

Kuwait’s Ministry of Electricity and Water (MEW) has awarded Siemens Energy a contract to provide maintenance services to 116 HV substations, under a five-year service contract, to boost the power supply network across the country. As per Siemens press release, it is the largest power transmission service agreement to date for Siemens Energy not only in Kuwait, but also in the Middle East. The new contract covers preventive maintenance and emergency repair of the substations, including various voltage levels switchgear, power transformers, and other components in each substation. Earlier in November, another long term maintenance contract of 54 substations was awarded to GE by MEW, highlighting the country’s efforts in maintaining the operational efficiency of its electricity infrastructure. Also, both these tenders clearly indicate strong foothold of western players in Middle East market. Link to the news:
