PGCIL will be installing 400 kV substation including a STATCOM to connect upcoming solar energy zones in Rajasthan to main grid

Bikaner II Bhiwadi Transco Ltd (BBTL), a company recently acquired by Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd (PGCIL) will be installing transmission infrastructure in Rajasthan to connect new solar projects to main grid. The total capacity of these solar projects is close to 8 GW. The transmission infrastructure which is to be installed includes 400 kV switching substation, STATCOM, and substation extension works in Rajasthan. BBTL will undertake this project under the build, own, operate and maintain contract. The tender and design studies for this project is yet to be announced. The utility STATCOM used in this project will be one of the first FACTS devices in India to be utilized for renewable energy integration. The project is scheduled to be completed in 18 months.
