Panasonic, Equinor check out green battery business potential in northern Scandinavia.

by Nov 18, 2020

Panasonic has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Norwegian state majority-owned Equinor (formerly Statoil) and industrial group Hydro to work them towards the summer of next year to make an assessment on the European market for lithium-ion batteries and explore opportunities for setting up a lithium-ion battery production business in Norway, targeting auto makers as potential customer, among other applications. Recently, quite a few massive new lithium-ion battery factories planned or already under construction in Europe, which indicates how Europe is actively expanding its renewable energy supply chain and in future will be less dependent on Asian countries for the downstream components in its renewable projects.
