Locomation’s platooning technology to be installed in 1,120 trucks

by Sep 24, 2020

Locomation is a autonomous trucking company which was founded in 2018 by autonomy experts from the Carnegie Mellon University’s Robotics Institute. Locomation has recently announced that Wilson Logistics has agreed to install Locomation’s platooning technology in 1,120 trucks. The two entities have agreed to extend their commercial partnership through at least the end of 2028. The first units are expected to be delivered in 2022. This technology requires at least one driver to be alert and in control all the times. The lead driver drives the truck while the follower truck operates 50 to 80 feet behind in tandem. This technology will allow the driver in the trucks behind to rest while travelling long disances.
