Launch of the new Innovative Electric Car MG4 in Europe

by Sep 23, 2022

MG4 is a new generation of pure electric vehicle architecture, with a more diversified power system and multiple battery configurations that provide different range options. The MG4 Electric is the first in a range of MG vehicles built on the sophisticated new MSP (Modular Scalable Platform) developed by MG’s parent company SAIC Motor. There were three centers involved: the SAIC Motor Design Center in Shanghai, the Advanced Design Studio in London, and the Royal College of Art. The innovative MSP will also be prepared for future technologies, highlighting MG’s forward-thinking design strategy.
MG4 arrived in Europe at the Port of Zeebrugge (Belgium) at the beginning of September. It has a new drive system delivering a variety of acceleration performance and highly flexible architecture. It delivers impressively compact dimensions and exceptional design, excellent driving behavior, a prominent level of electrical efficiency, innovative driver assistance systems, and great usability.
The electric car is available in three model variants MG4 Electric Standard, MG4 Electric Comfort, and MG4 Electric Luxury. The MG4 Electric Standard’s battery has a capacity of 51 kWh, while the MG4 Electric Comfort and Luxury’s batteries have a capacity of 64 kWh. The maximum range for the MG4 Electric Standard, MG4 Comfort, and MG4 Luxury are 350 km, 450 km, and 435 km, respectively. Other electric vehicle models from MG include the MG ZS (with 44.5 kWh Battery capacity), MG EHS (Plug-in Hybrid) having 16.6 kWh battery capacity, MG MARVEL R (69.9 kWh battery capacity), and MG5 (61.1 kWh battery capacity). Unlike the MG5 Electric or the ZS EV, for example, the MG4 is then no longer built on an internal combustion engine platform.
The European Parliament has officially approved the proposal to ban the sale of new petrol and diesel cars in the European Union from 2035. By then, the passenger cars equipped with a zero-emission drive train will be permitted on the road. MG Motors is prepared and even ahead of the European plans. MG is going EV-only by 2027 and it will launch replacements for the MG 3 and ZS by the end of 2024.
Before the mid of 2023, MG4 will depart for Australia. In the first full year, it hopes to sell 150,000 units of its “Global Car.” MG Motor plans ten model line-ups in its 2025 product portfolio and is ready to offer more fun driving models and the latest technologies to its customers.
