The Turkish transmission system operator, TE?A?, plans a grid expansion project to bring affordable power to remote regions across the country; for the same it has made a transformer order worth $20 million to the Swiss based company Hitachi ABB Power Grids Ltd.

The project aims to reduce reliance on unreliable and polluting local energy sources, such as diesel generators, and enable an uninterrupted supply of electricity. Hitachi ABB Power Grids’ transformer business will supply several 62.5 MVA and 100 MVA, 154 kV power transformers.

It is important to mention that Turkish Electricity Transmission Corporation (TE?A?), in December 2020, had ordered 49 power transformers from the manufacturer ASTOR; a contract worth $42 million.
