Hitachi ABB Power Grids is upgrading existing SVCs deployed in UK High-Speed Rail Network

High-Speed (HS-1) is 108 Km rail track between London and Channel Tunnel Rail Link. EDF Energy, in 2002, being the transmission system operator (TSO) in that part of UK awarded a contract to ABB to supply systems which will provide voltage support and aid harmonic mitigation to deal with the challenges of traction system. Now, almost after 2 decades, Hitachi ABB Power Grids has been awarded a contract worth 6.6 Million USD to optimize these assets. Hitachi ABB Power Grids is actively involved in deployment of their systems in the rail networks around the globe. Their offerings for the rail infrastructure are not limited to FACTS but they are also providing other range of products as well such as Traction Transformers, SCADA Systems and switchgear.
