The Canada Infrastructure Bank (CIB) signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Oneida Energy Storage LP for the construction of a battery storage project in Ontario. Oneida Energy Storage LP is a joint venture between NRStor and Six Nations Grand River Development Corporation. It plans to deliver the Oneida Energy Storage Project, a 250 MW / 1000 MWh energy storage facility in Southwestern Ontario, which would be the largest project of its kind in Canada. Ontario has abundant energy resources and the project would harness clean, reliable electricity to the provincial grid by optimizing the use of existing assets, reducing inefficiency and waste. As part of the Growth Plan, the CIB has a goal of investing $2.5 billion in clean energy projects across Canada within three years, and the project would also benefit from CIB’s innovative financial modelling, project structuring and procurement options.
