AusNet Services call for proposals to replace a 34 years old SVC

Horsham Terminal Station (HOTS) was first installed in 1986 by Hitachi ABB Power Grids to provide voltage support in North West Victoria. The North West Victoria 220 kV transmission loop provide connections to several generation centers which warrants replacement of existing SVC with a new one. Considering the critical nature of this SVC, the AusNet plans to complete the project assessment by end of this year. This is not the only SVC which is due for replacement in Australia. As per PTR database, TransGrid and Powerlink are also planning to upgrade their SVC which makes Australia a potential market for replacement/refurbishment projects in coming year. Link to the news:
